Nonprofit firm awards grantsfor economic development

Capital Matrix, a Boise-based nonprofit corporation, announced Thursday that it has awarded three grants totaling $60,000 to help boost economic development of communities throughout the Treasure Valley.

These grants are awarded as part of the Capital Matrix Community Initiative, a program that helps finance key community projects. Nonprofit, community and governmental organizations were invited to apply for grants. Seventeen applications were received and reviewed by Capital Matrix board members and other community leaders.

Grants of $25,000 were awarded to Sage Community Resources, a not-for-profit organization that provides community and economic development to 10 counties in Southwest Idaho, and to Mountain Home, which will use the money for improvements to a city-owned industrial park.

A $10,000 grant was awarded to Kickstand, Inc., a nonprofit entrepreneur-support organization that will help launch two key initiatives, The Service Provider Network and The Idaho Capital Network, and also provide an Internet-based resource center for Idaho entrepreneurs.
